Move to Hampton Roads and experience the life of your dreams. There are several beaches to choose from including Virginia Beach, Sandbridge, Croatan, Chesapeake Bay, and less than 2 hours away from Nags Head. There are so many things to do on the water in the area besides lounging on the beach. We jet ski, go tubing, parasailing, fishing, sailing, and best of all taking your boat to watch concerts or the fireworks in the summer. Just last summer, in Portsmouth, we watched Tom Petty from our boat.
How about some golfing? With so many to choose from, where do you start? Some of the Private Clubs include Bayville Golf Club, Bayville Country Club, Cypress Point Country Club, Princess Anne Country Club, and Greenbrier Country Club. Some of the public courses include Virginia Beach National, Nansemond River Golf Course, Hell's Point Golf Course, and Kempsville Greens Municipal Golf. Looking to save money on the most elite golf courses, then make sure you buy your VSGA card to the tune of about $65. Then all you pay for is your cart during off season. So, my husband, the avid golfer, just went to play Kiln Creek Golf Course in Newport News for $25 (late Feburary).
Fishing in our area is one of the best on the Atlantic Coast. By land or sea it is filled with delicious seafood and ready for you catch your trophy fish. Go out on the bay during Striper season and bring home some of the best seafood. Go trolling, deep sea fishing, crabbing, or surf casting. It is all here. You can charter a boat, or if you have your own there are plenty of marinas and even a dry storage off Shore Drive in Virginia Beach called Lynnhaven Marine Boatel. Within minutes they can have your boat down and ready to go out and catch the big one.
We have an abundance of parks in our area. Virginia Beach alone has 249 parks. Some of the parks include Mt. Trashmore (Virginia Beach), First Landing State Park (formerly known as Seashore State Park), Hunington Park/Fort Fun In Newport News, The Great Dismal Swamp and North West River Park in Chesapeake, and Back Bay which can take you all the way to North Carolina. If you are lucky, you may see some of the wild horses on your way. There are also a growing number Dog Parks in the area. If you are a dog lover, you can take your dog off their leash and let them run and play to their hearts are content. Virginia Beach has several Recreation Centers that offer tons of classes/lessons, day care, play groups, gyms, pools, and much more. Membership is currently is $66 a year for Virginia Beach residents between the ages of 18-59.
We have Amusement Parks, Water Parks, and Museums to satisfy any craving. From Busch Gardens to the Virginia Marine Science Museum, we have it all!
Do you or one of your family members struggle with Autism, ADHD, Allergies, or Asthma? We have grocery stores that cater towards special diets such as Trader Joe's, Navan's, the Organic Grocerier, not to mention the local grocery stores carry many items that benefit those on a special diet. We have two DAN! doctors in the area with HBOT in their offices and support groups to include TACA (Talk About Curing Autism) and TASA (Tidewater Chapter of the Autism Society of America) amoung many others. This is very close to my heart as my youngest is on the Autism Spectrum and my oldest has ADHD, Anxiety, Allergies and Asthma. A good read covering all four areas is Healing the Childhood Epidemics (Autism, ADHD, ASTHMA, and Allergies) by Kenneth Bock, MD and Camerson Stauth. He states that 1/3 of all children are affected by one or more of these disorders which equals 20 million kids.
