What makes up a basic house payment?

PITI or Principal, Interest, Taxes, and Insurance. You have been wanting to buy a home, especially now with the 8k TAX CREDIT . What can you afford? What would be a comfortable payment so you could still go out to dinner every so often? Or buy your kids that special toy? One way is to figure out your PITI. Let's say the neighborhood you like has homes for sale in it averaging 275,000. That payment would be ROUGHLY $1660. There are a few variables. Insurance and taxes are different with each house and each company you choose. For example, in one neighborhood the taxes may run higher than in another neighborhood.
